If you are struggling to get your groceries or get transportation the Erie County Senior Services has you covered. They have some great resources. David Shenk, Erie County Commissioner of Senior Services says they have had to be really innovative. Their latest partnership is with Hearts and Hands Faith and Action. They are involved in a program for essential and nonessential transportation for seniors and the disabled. They can help if you need grocery shopping and delivery and if you need any other essential items like medications etc. If you are just lonely and you want a friendly phone call they are available for that too.

Erie County has a robust dining program where seniors would go to their town hall or community center to get a meal and socialize with friends. They had to close it down because of COVID-19. The seniors were called and were asked if they would like meals delivered to their home and they received a great response.

Recently David Shenk decided to enhance their go and dine program where seniors would receive four vouchers a month to go participating restaurants and eat. The amount of vouchers received was doubled from four to eight. David Shenk said they are also looking for more restaurants to participate.
