Habitat for Humanity in Buffalo had to move one of their main fundraising events online. Stephanie Lawson from Habitat for Humanity tells us Western New Yorkers are being more generous now than ever.
Habitat for Humanity had to cancel their signature tasting event that that was supposed to take place in March because of the COVID-19 and decided to put something online and it was very successful. They doubled their fundraising goal in just 2 ½ days of fundraising. All the funds raised are going to be used to build a house. They call it the house that beer built. Typically, this event is in partnership with breweries, distilleries and bars and their employees get involved and volunteer to build a house with them. Stephanie Lawson said this year is a little different. Their construction sites are closed to volunteers, so things are being built a little more slowly and very safely but they wouldn’t be able to do it, if not for all the people who participated in their event online.
