Mel talks with best-selling author Jaimal Yogis. His recent book is a children’s book. Jaimal says he had curly hair as a child. He was teased for it and got into a lot of trouble. He would get frustrated and get into little fights and disagreements. As he got older, he got in more trouble and ran away from home with enough cash to buy a surfboard. He ended up in Hawaii. He says in his twenties he learned to surf and learned mindfulness, and both became his place to destress. Learning to surf became a greater lesson on how to ride the waves of life. In one of his books, Saltwater Buddha, Jaimal shares his journey.
His most recent book, Mop Rides the Waves of Life is for kids. He is a dad and he thought it would be great to part some of those skills to his three kids. He says this book has helped his own family get through the stress of this pandemic. He said he didn’t expect to use the metaphor in the book so much with his own family.
Mop Rides the Waves of Life is available at Barnes & Noble bookstores and on Amazon
