Buffalo-based singer-songwriter Saranaide finds calm in the waters that surround her island home. She grew up on Grand Island. As they walk by the waters Saranaide says she calls this her thinking spot. She says she comes there a lot; it’s a nice place to be.
Her latest EP, Beyond, is a quarantine baby. She said it only took her a couple of months to complete and couple of the songs she wrote in a week or so. She said she took the stories that she either created herself or that were happening in the time to create these little soundbites and nice little mediational songs to listen to and feel like a little brain massage for you.
Saranaide said her biggest lesson she learned from 2020 is that it is okay to ask for help. For her, she said, it meant taking care of her mental health specially and getting counseling for the first time and getting a little help from medication and not being afraid to ask for help. While we all know the weight of a year of uncertainty; Saranaide’s latest EP provides solace. Saranaide Beyond is now streaming.
