Mel Camp talks to Patrick Lynn, American Idol Senior Supervising Producer. He says he is a big fan of Buffalo and he dragged American Idol to Buffalo two seasons ago. He says he has been trying for years to get them to go to Buffalo and he was told tat anyone from Buffalo is going to go to New York City to and told them that’s not how it works.
He says they have basically modeled the Idol Across America much like the bus auditions. You come and wait in a virtually line and see a producer and Patrick will be there too.
Here are his tips for auditioning.
1. Have a few songs ready to go.
2. Sing well and perform. They want to see your personality. They are also looking for people who will be great on tv.
3. There are a list of songs that a lot of people sing. If you are singing a song make it fresh and different.
4. Be yourself. Everyone thinks they are looking for the next Kelly or Ruben; they re not. He says they are not sure what they are looking for but they will know it when they see it.
