Eileen Buckley is a senior reporter at WKBW. She joined 7 News in March 2019.

Eileen is an award-winning journalist and Buffalo Broadcast Hall of Fame who began her radio career in 1985.

In 2019, after 34 years of working in radio journalism, Eileen made the switch from radio to broadcast/digital television. As a senior reporter, Eileen covers a wide variety of stories in the Western New York community.

Eileen’s wide range of broadcast and digital experience includes live broadcast reports, Facebook live hosting, radio news anchoring, public affairs talk programming, and radio production.

Eileen spent most of her career as a news reporter at several radio stations in Buffalo and Albany, including WBFO, WBEN, WGR, WNED-AM, WBUF, WECK, WROW & WGNA.

Eileen has served as both assistant news director and news director at WBFO and then later as a senior reporter.

Eileen has been the recipient of numerous broadcast awards, including an Emmy for her reporting as part of WKBW-TV’s Evening Newscast, “48 Hours After Racist Rampage, Buffalo Begins the Healing Process — May 16, 2022”.

In November of 2021, Eileen was inducted into the Buffalo Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.

She received a national, 2019 media award from Mental Health America for excellence in reporting and portrayal of mental health conditions during her prior reporting at WBFO.

Eileen is a nine-time recipient of the prestigious Art Athens Award for General Excellence in Individual Reporting from the New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association.

Eileen also received a first place Edward R. Murrow Award in 2012 for “Best Use of Sound”, and earned a 2012 first place Public Radio News Directors Inc. (PRNDI) Award for spot news on the “Bullying of Jamie Rodemeyer”. The PRDNI’s is the only national contest recognizing outstanding public radio news reporting at local stations.

Eileen also won numerous NYS AP Broadcaster awards through the years including Best Spot News, Best Interview, Best Feature, Best Documentary, and Best Use of Sound.

In the spring of 2013, Eileen received the “Pinnacle Award” from the Buffalo Broadcasters Association. The Award is presented to an individual who has exhibited outstanding performance over a career span of 25 years or more of service to the radio or television outlet in the Buffalo market.

Eileen has served as a mentor with the Buffalo Broadcasters Association, working with students to help shape future broadcast/journalism careers.
