Every year on June 5, doughnut fans around the country get to celebrate their favorite snack thanks to National Doughnut Day. But Krispy Kreme decided one day wouldn’t be enough for its customers who are looking to satisfy their cravings for something sweet. So, the company decided to extend the party to five days.
“Anyone else think that time & days have been a blur recently? Us too. That’s why this year, we’re changing #NationalDoughnutDay to #NationalDoughnutWeek,” the doughnut chain wrote on Instagram:
The flavorful festivities will kick off on June 1 and run through the end of National Doughnut Day on June 5.
It’s not a full week, but we’ll give Krispy Kreme a pass, because, as they said, time is sort of feeling a little off for all of us.
Krispy Kreme company leaders did take recent events into consideration when deciding to extend the doughnut party. Many of us have been sheltering at home due to the coronavirus. So, Krispy Kreme thought it was time to do something extra special just in time for their products’ big national holiday.
“National Doughnut Day is one of our favorite holidays to celebrate, but with days starting to blur together, we want to make sure it’s easier than ever for fans to participate,” Dave Skena, Chief Marketing Officer for Krispy Kreme, said in a statement.
Beyond extending the free offer to five days, Krispy Kreme also made a few other improvements to its typical National Doughnut Day, er, Week, celebration. This year, customers get to choose which flavor doughnut they want. So, if you just have to have that chocolate-filled doughnut, it’s yours for free!
Also, customers can get a free doughnut each day of the promotion. No purchase is necessary, but everyone is limited to one free treat a day. It’s only fair to share and let everyone enjoy a little taste of fried deliciousness.
As of May 25, Krispy Kreme stores and drive-thrus are open for carry-out orders, whether you ordered online or in person. They’ll honor the National Doughnut Day promotion whether you come into the store or use the drive-thru window. Deliveries, though, are not included in the promotion.
Are you ready for five days of free doughnuts?
