BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — We have all heard the question in an interview..."Tell me about yourself" which basically means give me your elevator pitch on who you are. Cathy Lanzalaco, a career coach and owner of Inspire Careers said this pitch should be:
-45-60 seconds long
-Concise summary of your accomplishments and your personality
-Practice it in the mirror and memorize it
-Tell a story in a quick fashion on what has lead you to where you are today
-Can also talk about why are you interested in this job at this time
Sherrie Barr Mack of the Barr Mack Group said she likes the idea of a "snap pitch". She said this allows yourself to introduce yourself to someone while showing your personality with either humor or through a story. Barr Mack said to make it interesting and quirky so the person you are meeting will remember you.
This is just one park of the interview and Lanzalaco adds it's important to just tell your story, whether you have hoped around to different jobs or you have loved marketing forever, sell yourself while being authentic.
