Once Christina Caito shifted gears, she was able to accelerate into her new career.
"When you actually find something that you love it makes a huge difference. It’s not just about the job. It’s about passion," Caito said.
She used to be working in the technology sector of an international brokerage firm. However, one year ago, she switched lanes and joined ACV Auctions. It's a car auction website and mobile app based in Buffalo. It acts as the middleman between wholesalers and buyers for, generally, used cars.
"Were not just dealing with cars we are dealing with people," she said.
Now, Caito works as an account manager and found her calling.
Her story is not uncommon. Many people from all sorts of jobs have found a fresh start at ACV Auctions, Jim Honsberger, the director of Inside Sales and ACV Auctions, said.
"We have experiences that range from servers to folks that were landscaping to folks that were in insurance. They come from all walks of life," Honsberger said.
Recently, ACV announced it was going through a major expansion. It is hiring more than 30 people in Buffalo and around 100 across the country.
"A whole lot of entry level positions right now. Because of the record growth, we are promoting quickly as well," Honsberger said.
Positions range from entry level account managers to the technology team up to managerial roles. Starting salaries depend on qualifications, but it can range anywhere from $35,000 to $70,000. There are a few six-figure salaries available for more experienced applicants.
Since the company is growing and moving into other markets, Honsberger said that speaking another language is important for new applicants.
"If you are bilingual, that is a real plus here. As we move across the country and through the south and into California that would be a real plus," Honsberger said.
