Empire Emergency Apparatus in the Town of Niagara is breaking ground on an expansion that will double its staff. The company will add 10,000 square feet and add at least a dozen new jobs.
The company upgrades vehicles for law enforcement, fire departments and various state agencies. Empire adds elements like computer mounts, custom lighting, electrical components and weapons storage.
Empire Emergency completed nearly 200 custom vehicles in 2018 and is working to up the number to around 250 by the end of 2019. The expansion project will take about four months and will wrap up mid-July. Expansion includes hiring new position from sales to technicians. The company will offer paid training.
Empire's clients include the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Lockport Police, NYPD, NYFD and agencies as far-reaching as Ohio and Pennsylvania.
