Are you looking for a job in construction? There's an app for that.
“It's a first of its kind in that it is strictly for the construction industry, locally in Buffalo and WNY,” said Construction Exchange of Buffalo and Western New York Workforce Coordinator, Nate McConnell.
The free workforce hiring application is called “Conex,” and it allows job seekers to search local construction job openings.
Creators said it’s a hybrid between linked in and job sites like indeed. “You can message the companies right through the app. You can create your profile, look at the postings, save a job, or apply directly through there,” McConnell explained.
The Construction Exchange of Buffalo and Western New York came up with the concept for the app. The trade association is made up of some 900 construction companies across the area. They conducted a survey of its members. The results found hiring was a major issue. “85% of the companies who responded said that's our biggest challenge,” said exchange Executive Director, Joseph Benedict.
Conex has only been active for three weeks and has about a dozen job postings right now. But, that number is expected to grow significantly as word spreads about the free service.
