Kristen Mirand is a multimedia journalist at WKBW in Buffalo, NY. She joined the 7 News team in September 2022.
She is excited to be with the WKBW team. Kristen was born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y., and she is thrilled to be home sharing stories from the community she grew up in. As a Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart graduate, she is proud to be from the 716. Kristen previously reported at a station in the Lynchburg/Roanoke, Virginia, market.
Kristen studied at Ithaca College where she graduated magna cum laude earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism with a minor in sociology.
She previously interned with two local stations in Western and Central New York, and had internships with network news organizations. In the spring of 2019, she interned with ABC Network News in the company's Los Angeles bureau. She covered the 91st Academy Awards in Hollywood at the Dolby Theatre. Later that summer, she interned with NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, and would assist Holt on some shoots that would air in the evening broadcast. In early 2020, Kristen worked with CNN to help cover the New Hampshire primary.
When she's not reporting, she loves spending time with her family and friends, cooking, working out and of course trying all of the good eats in Buffalo.
Kristen is thrilled to be covering your stories in her hometown, and is looking forward to making a difference in WNY.
