BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo from A to Z, Come Take a Tour with Me takes kids on an adventure through the iconic spots of the Queen City.

Authors Brigette Callahan and Kristin Warham are two reading teachers at Errick Road Elementary in North Tonawanda that wanted to teach students about the city they grew up in.

"It's really important for our students, our kids to be rooted in our city," Callahan said.

The main character is Bob Uffalo, an adorable bison that travels to familiar, historic, and iconic places across Buffalo. He uses drones and cameras to document his journey.

"As authors we learned that in order to get kids engaged in books we have to really meet them where they are," Warham added. "And technology is where they are."

It took the reading teachers two and a half years to fill the 26 letter Buffalo themed book, and many letters have more than one place.

"It was a big challenge to find places that appealed to children and families," Warham said. The trickiest letters to figure out were X and Y and even letters with a bunch of places like S (Silo City, Shark Girl, and Shea's) all ended up making the list, the authors added.

The book was released in October and is already on it's third publishing run. The authors are very happy and overwhelmed by the support the community has given them, they are even thinking about making a sequel. Books are sold in many stores around town and can be found on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
