He got hooked on cooking as a kid. Brad Rowell says his earliest memories of cooking "making mac & cheese with my mom." Brad grew up to be an award winning chef and came home to Hamburg to open The Grange Community Kitchen.
Brad says that his first task was to transform the circa 1892 building into a bright and inviting environment, adding "it was a lot of work to strip it down."
According to Brad, the restaurant menu is a group effort and it highlights fresh local produce. The chef says he uses "maybe four or five local farmers-we spend a lot of time sourcing."
They make a lot of things from scratch here: pickles, bread, mayo-they even make their own crackers. It's a lot of work, but the payoff has been that The Grange Community Kitchen has become one of the "go to places" in the Southtowns. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and feature a full bar.
Brad says one of the best sellers here is the double cheese hamburger with a side of crispy potatoes. You can find the entire menu at their website.
The Grange Community Kitchen is at 22 Main Street, Hamburg, NY 716-648-0022
