BERGEN, N.Y. (WKBW) — Ready to get your scare on? Travel to Genesee County and you will find the Bergen House.

Recently featured in the Travel Channel's spine-chilling countdown of the top 10 most terrifying locations on earth, this house was built in 1858 and it has a rich history of ghostly encounters. This is why 7 Eyewitness News ghost hunters Mike Randall, Rebecca Thornburg, and Paula D'Amico teamed up again to investigate.

This trio of ghostly good investigators visited with homeowner, Cathy Heglund. Cathy grew up in this home and has plenty of experiences to share.

I've witnessed shadow figures. I've gotten EVPs which are electronic voice phenomenon and we have also witnesses object being moved

The property sits next to a protected swamp. Local legend has it that the 400 million-year-old swamp was the location where witches would host ritual ceremonies.

After years of close encounters, Cathy and her family moved out for a short period of time but decided to move back in just about one year ago and the visits by more than 40 spirited friends resumed. Cathy and several paranormal experts say there's even a portal inside the home.
