BARKER, N.Y. (WKBW) — It's a custard you'll have to show some ID for.
The folks at "In the Mix Brewing & Creamery" in Barker are making a name for themselves with a new beer-infused custard.
Owners and brothers Austin and Jared Mesiti want you to keep one very important thing in mind.
"It's not beer-flavored custard. It's custard made with beer," said Austin.
The four-layer s'mores custard is the most popular so far.
You can also try the blackberries and cream custard, the cranberry coffee espresso custard or the milkshake IPA.
Or you can go for the classic burger, fries and a milkshake (Yes the milkshake can be infused with beer too).
"We want to really pull apart the flavors that are in the beer, and that's where we accentuate them, is in the frozen custard," said Jared.
It's still a family friendly place; they do serve non-alcoholic ice-creams and custards.
Jared and Austin said they worked with their family, at RG Brewery and Five Sons Winery for years.
But they wanted to take what they learned from their parents and do their own thing.
"One day kind [we were] of thinking how we could do beer in a different form," said Austin. "We gave it a shot, [it] turned out pretty good, and we've honed in the recipes from there."
The restaurant opened just last Friday, but already, the Mesiti's are making plans for the future.
That means summer and football season specials, and getting more of their ingredients locally.
Thursdays are Taco Thursdays, featuring an all day special menu.
