Before all that people pleasing pageantry hits the stage in Delaware Park, there are hours of of work to be done in a rehearsal hall. Steve Vaughan directs the Shakespeare in Delaware Park production of King Lear.
For this production Steve created a mythical world that he calls "Lear Land". He says "I wanted to make my own country, my own culture". He accomplished that by telling his designers that he didn't want them to use metal.
All the weapons, props and costumes were created using all natural materials like bone, wood and leather.
King Lear open June 21st. More info can be found at the Shakespeare in Delaware Park website.
