BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — It's a new, but old look for the North Park Theatre on Hertel Avenue.
New restoration efforts at the theatre bring back the original splendor of when it opened back in 1920. The lobby has new molding and plaster work, echoing the original domed ceiling with ornate art and shining chandeliers.
The mural above the screen in the auditorium has also been restored and glossed. More work is being done outside of the theatre as well, replacing the poster frames. The inspiration comes from old classic photos of the theatre.
This latest round of restoration work cost upwards of $250,000, funded by private donors and a state grant.
North Park celebrates its 100 year anniversary in 2020.
