A 16-year-old girl from Conewago Valley is recovering after being shot by a 12 gauge birdshot, Easter morning.
Darcy Whalen tells 7 Eyewitness News, her teenage daughter Brittany Bean was visiting a friend when the friend's younger brother pulled out a gun and pointed it at her face. The boy then pulled the trigger, spraying the shots along Brittany's forearm and neck.
The high school sophomore was transported by Mercy Flight to Women and Children's Hospital moments after the shooting and remained there for four days.
Whalen says her daughter has endured five surgeries and has an uphill battle for recovery.
The family has created Go Fund Me page to help offset the medical bills.
