Fire Commissioner Garnell Whitfield says the incident happened Tuesday evening at a home on Peoria Street in the city.
According to police, the little girl drowned in a bathtub. She was rushed to Kenmore Mercy Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
We're told Child Protective Services is now investigating and that the girl was being watched by a babysitter at the time.
Sources tell 7 ABC the girls parents were not home at the time of the accident; but a babysitter was.
A woman who is believed to be the babysitter was taken away in a police car by officers on scene; but was not in handcuffs.
Just confirmed with police that the kids parents were not home during time of drowning but another adult woman was @WKBW
