Are you a Time Warner Cable subscriber? The organization says more than 320,000 customers data may have been stolen this week.
The data includes customer e-mail addresses and passwords, but Time Warner says the the compromise had nothing to do with a breach in its systems.
The company is speaking to customers who may have been affected.
Time Warner issued a statement saying, in part:
Time Warner Cable was recently notified by the FBI that some of our customers’ email addresses including account passwords may have been compromised. Our understanding is that the compromise had nothing to do with TWC’s systems or processes, and we have found no evidence of a breach in our systems that operate and secure email accounts for our customers.
TWC is proactively reaching out to those customers who could potentially be impacted so they can take precautionary measures to protect their accounts by changing their password using a strong, unique alternative.
