A brief lockdown at Alden Central Schools has been lifted.
The campus was secured around 2 p.m. after the high school administration learned of a potential threat to safety.
According to Alden Schools Superintendent Adam Stoltman, a bomb squad recovered and removed an item from an area of the school that was quickly determined to be of no danger to students or staff.
Erie County Sheriff's deputies searched the building and gave the all clear around 3 p.m.
All evening activities in the district will go on as scheduled.
