The Allen Medical Campus rail station will temporarily close this weekend for the last time since the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) began renovations a year ago.
The station will close Saturday and reopen Monday, October 10.
During the closure, crews will test newly renovated features such as the elevator, real-time bus and rail message boards and the rebuilt escalators. The entire station will also be cleaned.
As part of the renovations, the station received a new entrance, floors and walls that were implemented injunction with the University at Buffalo building their new School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences facility over the existing rail station.
To accommodate travelers displaced by the closure, Metro will provide daily shuttle service to and from the Summer Best Station every 12 minutes for customers to access areas adjacent to the Allen Medical Campus Station. Passengers need to exit the train at Summer Best Station to access the shuttle service.
The shuttle route map can be found online at metro.nfta.com.
