Internet giant Amazon, one of the largest employers in the United States, is hiring in the Buffalo area as part of what could reportedly be a major expansion here.
Business Firstis reporting the company is taking over the former Ahold USA warehouse on Walden Avenue in Lancaster to open a regional distribution center. The massive project could eventually create more than 500 jobs, according to the report.
Lancaster Town Supervisor Johanna Coleman tells 7 Eyewitness News she can't confirm or deny that report, but did say she and a code enforcement official met with Benderson Development, which owns the old warehouse, on March 31st.
At that time, Benderson stated it had a "national firm with a recognizable business name" as a potential tenant for the building but could not discuss specifics.
Amazon's website lists three open positions in the Buffalo area - for a senior staffing coordinator, a human resources business partner, and an operations administrative assistant.
