A crash in Batavia involving a tractor trailer has turned deadly after a victim succumbs to their injuries. One passengers, 81-year-old Purcil Buzard, died from his injuries in the three-vehicle crash.

Troopers responded to the collision on Highway 77 in the town of Alabama on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

Investigators say a tractor-trailer turned off Lewiston Road onto the highway when a car traveling southbound failed to stop at a stop sign and went underneath the trailer of the semi, tearing off the roof. The car then hit a building and another car. The driver, 69-year-old Donna Wolter, and passenger 81-year-old Purcil Buzard, both of Medina, were both taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for their injuries. Buzard later died.

The driver of the car remains hospitalized.
