Police in Ontario have recovered the body of a missing boater in Lake Erie.

Police received a call from a concerned boater at around 8am Thursday morning. Constable Ed Sanchuk with the Ontario Provincial Police says a boating enthusiast was traveling on Lake Erie off the shore of Port Maitland when they saw what looked like a dead person floating in the water.

Port Maitland is approximately 30 miles west of Fort Erie. The body was recovered approximately 8.5 miles from the shoreline.

On Friday, the body was identified as 37-year-old Giuseppe Reinhart, a Niagara Falls, Ontario fisherman who was reported missing last week after his boat was found near Hamburg, N.Y.

Ontario Provincial Police tell 7 Eyewitness News no foul play is suspected in Reinhart's death.  Investigators are not treating his death as suspicious.

The U.S. Coast Guard started searching for Reinhart on July 26th after Hamburg Police noticed an apparently unmanned boat with multiple fishing poles. Crews noticed coolers filled with ice and fresh-caught walleye, but no one on board.

Officials said Reinhart had been fishing outside of Wanakah, N.Y.  They believed he started his fishing trip in Crystal Beach, Ontario.
