The Buffalo City Mission has a lofty goal this Thanksgiving holiday, and it needs the help of fellow western new yorkers.
The City Mission is looking to collect 2,500 turkeys before November 21 to help provide traditional Thanksgiving meals to impoverished families, the elderly and shut-ins in our community.
This year, the City Mission is set to feed more than 250 people at its annual Thanksgiving community meal. It will also distribute more than 5,500 meals to the poor and homeless on Thanksgiving Day through its annual "Turkey Express."
Western New Yorkers are being asked to help meet the need by donating turkeys. Donations can be made at the Buffalo City Mission at 100 East Tupper Street. It's open Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
The Buffalo City Mission is also putting out the call for volunteers to help serve or deliver food on Thanksgiving Day. To contact the City Mission call 716-854-8181 or click here.
