50-year-old John Jaycox has been arraigned on an indictment with several charges today, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office.

The charges include:

  • Attempted murder in the first degree
  • Attempted assault in the first degree
  • Attempted robbery in the first degree
  • Assault in the second degree
  • Attempted sexual in the first degree

On March 15th, 2018, Jaycox entered a Choco-Logo chocolate shop in Broadway and was accused of attacking a 60-year-old employee.

“What makes this case particularly disturbing is that there is no connection between the victim and the defendant,” said D.A. John Flynn. “This appears to be a random act of violence, and it is imperative that this individual is put behind bars for a long time if convicted.”

Jaycox is scheduled to return to court on May 29th for a pre-trial conference.

If convicted on all charges, Jaycox faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.
