Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown visits White House

Posted

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown traveled to Washington D.C. on Monday to attend a special event at the White House.

The event was hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama to recognize the work of mayors from a round the country on reducing homelessness among veterans.

Mayor Brown says through partnership of government agencies and housing professionals Western New York has been able to offer housing to any homeless veteran that may need it.

"The city has invested in housing developments that set aside units for veterans. And through the initiative that we have been able to put together now when we identify, or are informed there is a veteran that becomes homeless in our community we are able to provide housing for that veteran in a 90 day period of time.", said Brown.

Mayor Brown was among a group of approximately twenty mayors who were recognized.
