All employees of Emerald South Nursing Home and Rehab Center will soon be losing their jobs, according to a notice by the state's WARN system.
96 workers in total will be impacted, according to the spokesperson for the receiver, Jeremy B. Strauss.
“We are working very, very closely with the union and state to make sure the residents are moved properly. No staff will be leaving until all residents have been moved,” says spokesperson Jay Lawrence.
It was announced earlier this month that the facility on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo would be closingafter being fined $10,000 by New York State in the wake of recent patient deaths.
Earlier this month a union spokesperson said workers would be assisted in finding other jobs.
Lawrence tells 7 Eyewitness News that there will be a hiring fair at the Buffalo Community Health Care Center, formerly Emerald North, to help the affected staff find new jobs at a later date.
