Buffalo woman accused in her mother's 2005 stabbing death

The Erie County D.A.'s office has announced that 40-year-old Lashawn Lewis has been arraigned on an indictment charging her with second degree murder.

Officials allege Lewis fatally stabbed her 50-year-old mother more than 40 times all over her body inside the victim's home on August 4th, 2005. 

If convicted, Lewis faces 25 years to life in prison.

Lewis is currently in the Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden serving a 90-day prison sentence on an unrelated controlled substance charge.
