The Catholic Diocese of Buffalo will sell Bishop Richard J. Malone's opulent mansion on Oakland Place to help pay settlements to victims of sexual abuse by priests.
The diocese announced this afternoon that it will sell the mansion as well as a residence for retired priests on Linwood Avenue.

“This move underscores the importance we place on helping the victims of abuse to begin healing,” Malone said in a statement.
The bishop will move into the rectory of St. Stanislaus Church on Buffalo's East Side, he said.
