Up to now, those Catholics have been watching the scandal play-out through the media - but no longer.
A group of nine Catholic laity leaders have started an initiative to get changes in the Diocese of Buffalo related to accountability, transparency and prevention in the future.
The initiative is called "A Movement to Rebuild Trust in the Diocese of Buffalo."
The group's first step is holding a symposium with national experts. It is open to the public and will take place at Canisius College on November 28th at 7 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.
