Newly unsealed court papers describe long-standing differences between the injury lawyers, including:
- Whether Cellino and Barnes should poach clients of other law firms.
- Whether it should focus on the East Coast, where Cellino lives, or the West Coast, where Barnes focuses.
- Nepotism and the hiring of family members.
The relationship has gotten ugly, with court papers referencing "dissention...deadlock"...and the barring of Cellino from his company phone and email.
Meanwhile officially, Barnes and the firm’s other lawyers say it's business as usual.
The court papers remained sealed until Tuesday so the firm could avoid "the glare of the inevitable media spotlight."
It’s a spotlight the firm has spent millions of dollars seeking.
