Pano's Restaurant in Buffalo's Elmwood Village will soon have a new owner for the first time in 41 years.
Chason Affinity Companies, which is building a condominium project right next door, has purchased the iconic eatery from Pano Georgiadis. The price of the transaction has not been disclosed.
The sale is expected to close Friday. The restaurant will close for two months for extensive renovations, including the installation of a new kitchen. It will reopen under the Pano's name but operate under a new management team and executive chef.
"Our goal is to have a seamless a transition as possible and provide Pano's long-time customers and our new patrons a great casual dining experience in an updated and improved landmark restaurant in the Elmwood Village," Chason said in a release.
Chason Affinity is in the process of demolishing a row of former houses-turned-businesses on Elmwood Avenue between the restaurant and Forest Avenue to make way for a 40-unit condo project that will include retail at street level and underground parking. The project is expected to be complete in 2019.
