Chautauqua County man to face judge after sheriff's deputies say he neglected his horse

A Chautauqua County man will now face a judge after sheriff's deputies say he neglected his horse.

The Sheriff's Office says deputies found it on October 18 in the Town of Sherman, following a report of a horse running free near Route 76.

Deputies believe its owner, 35-year-old Allan Detweiler, neglected it.

The horse's hooves were between 10 and 12 inches long.

They tracked down Detweiler shortly afterwards and cited him for overdriving, torturing and injuring an animal, and failing to provide sustenance.

He's due to appear in the Town of Sherman court.
