The conversation continues as the community rallies for a new train station in Buffalo. A meeting is being held to discuss potential options at United Way on Delaware Avenue, Wednesday, October 19th at 5:30pm.
Citizens for Regional Transit is backing the efforts of city and state officials to build a new station in the queen city, sooner than later. Representative Brian Higgans, Councilman David Franczyk and Senator Chuck Schumer are just a few officials leading the charge towards a new home for Amtrak, saying Buffalo is in desperate need given the dire conditions of the Exchange Street Station.
Currently, Central Terminal and Canalside are the front-runners on the table. Higgans has called for reserved state funds to be released to further support their efforts in finding the perfect location.
Mayor Paul Dyster of Niagara Falls is expected to attend the meeting alongside representatives from the National Association of Railroad Passengers and the Buffalo Niagara Partnership.
