A major development project could soon become reality in the heart of Buffalo's east side.
Crowds poured into a community meeting at the Johnnie B. Wiley Pavilion August 3rd to learn more about the proposal.
The project would cover about two blocks of Jefferson Avenue and contain both apartments and commercial space.
"The most important concern was about how the building would look and wanting it to complement Jefferson Avenue. Jefferson Avenue is an historic African American Street, they were concerned about having representation of the project that reflected the neighborhood," Buffalo Common Council President Darius Pridgen told 7 Eyewitness news.
The ultimate goal of the project is to help revive the neighborhood by created mixed-income housing and a walkable community with access to retail, human services and public transportation.
People Inc. and developer Sinatra and Company organized the event and more are being planned for the future.
