BATAVIA, N.Y. (WKBW) — 94-year-old Norma Longrod is one of the oldest in Western New York to recover after a positive COVID-19 test, according to Rochester Regional Health.

Longrod originally arrived at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia after she fell at her home in March. Upon her arrival in the emergency room, doctors realized she had a fever of 102 degrees and put her into isolation.

Before contracting the virus she had been in good health.

Doctors say she was treated with Hydroxychloroquine and stayed strong enough and pulled through.

"Well, I'm much better. Much, much better than when I came here," Longrod said in a YouTube video posted by Rochester Regional Health. "They thought that I was not going to make it."

Longrod also expressed her gratitude for the care she received at the hospital, saying she couldn't have asked for anything better.

Doctors say there are a lot of times when you feel hopeless with the pandemic going on, but to see Longrod who was in such a tough situation pull through and get back to nearly normal makes you feel good.
