NEW YORK (WKBW) — Cornell University has developed a website to chart the daily spread/slowdown of COVID-19 in New York State.
The website charts daily and cumulative totals of new cases, across the state and counties, to help users see whether they’re flattening the curve.
“When we had to shut down our lab, we wanted to see what we could do with our expertise in systems engineering to help the public and provide timely information,” said energy systems engineering professor Fengqi You, who is leading the effort.
When you visit the website you can:
- Use a play button and a slider to watch how infections spread day by day across New York
- View interactive charts offering different ways of viewing the outbreak statewide or by county
- View the total number of new infections by county
- View the number of infections per 100,000 residents for each county since the first NYS COVID-19 case March 2
A release says improvements are being made and they hope to add hospital bed and fatality data to the site.
