COVID-19 cluster reported at Houghton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center; 30 positive tests and two deaths reported

HOUGHTON, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Allegany County Department of Health announced on Thursday morning that Houghton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is the site of a COVID-19 cluster.

The nursing home and rehabilitation facility recently had 27 residents test positive. Two of the residents, an 86-year-old woman and a 71-year-old man, have died of COVID-19. In addition, three staff members have tested positive.

Houghton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is now working with the state health department to investigate. The New York State Department of Health is overseeing COVID-19 cases at healthcare facilities.

The county health department is working with the facility on contact tracing for the 30 positive cases. Anyone identified as having contact with a positive individual will be notified by phone.
