BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz says COVID-19 vaccine shipments to Western New York are being delayed due to winter weather.
Poloncarz says this is happening across New York State, and is impacting shipments to providers in Western New York like the Erie County Department of Health.
The county executive says the Erie County Department of Health is not scheduling first dose COVID-19 appointments, until doses are in stock, and that the Erie County Department of Health hopes to be able to get new doses by the middle of next week.
The Erie County Department of Health will continue to reschedule those appointments that were canceled in January, and hopes to finish all remaining January appointments with a new shipment of doses.
Once those appointments are rescheduled, Poloncarz says the health department will open new appointments for first doses.
