Explore Artpark in a whole new way this summer

LEWISTON, N.Y. (WKBW) — Are you ready to experience The Art of Walking?

This summer, visitors to Artpark in Lewiston are invited to experience a new approach to a traditional walking tour. Participants will explore the nature, poetry and story of Artpark while adhering to social distancing guidelines.

According to details released on Thursday, The Art of Walking is created by an international collaboration of New York-based theatre and visual artist Carin Jean White and Catalan artists Itsaso Iribarren & German de la Riva.

Starting June 27th, groups of up to 25 poeople will be led by two performance artists, weaving a moving meditation combining walking, stillness, listening and cheerful interaction.

Participants will wear provided headphones to listen to guides, ambient sounds and music of the park. Headphones and other provided materials will be sanitized prior to each tour and headphones will also be equipped with one-use earpiece covers. In addition to sanitation measures, all participants will be required to wear masks and socially distance at check-in and for the duration of the tour. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mask, masks will be provided for those who do not bring one.

Upcoming tours are scheduled as follows:

  • June 27 & 28 at 4pm & 6:30pm
  • July 1 at 6:30pm
  • July 3 at 6:30pm
  • July 5 at 4pm & 6:30pm (no tours on July 4)
  • Remaining July weekends: Saturdays 4pm & 6:30pm, Sundays 4pmAugust: Saturdays 4pm & 6:30pm, Sundays 4pm
