The New York State Attorney General's Office said it is looking into claims from wedding couples that Hotel Henry isn't refunding event deposits.
Last week, the hotel announced it was closingat the end of the month after citing "crippling effects of the pandemic."
7 Eyewitness News spoke to Jonathan Rowan, a western New York groom who felt blindsided by the announcement. Rowan and his fiance, Nina were scheduled to have their wedding reception at Hotel Hentry next September. He said he hadn't heard about how or when their reception deposit was going to be reimbursed. He estimated the hotel owed him more than $4,000. At the time of the report, Hotel spokesman Dennis Murphy said the hotel was in the process of developing programs to help all impacted clients.
Developer Douglas Jemal saw the report, and vowed to pay for the couple's reception. Jemal said he hopes to acquire the hotel.
We have reached out to hotel Company Member Dennis Murphy for a comment and are waiting to hear back.
