LEWISTON, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Niagara University School of Nursing will donate personal protective equipment to local hospitals and nursing homes.
The university says the equipment was initially intended to be used by nursing students.
“Last summer, we received a double order of the surgical gloves, gowns, and masks we use to teach students,” said Margarita Coyne, interim dean of Niagara University’s School of Nursing.
The plan was to keep the extra in inventory but when word spread of the shortage of these supplies, Coyne began the process of attempting to make the donation.
The university says they will be donating 22,000 pairs of gloves, 500 masks, and 100 gowns.
Roswell Park, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, and Our Lady of Peace/Ascensiongroup will receive the supplies.
