BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A COVID-19 vaccination site will open at the Delavan Grider Community Center Wednesday.

The site is part of an effort between NYS and federal government to bring mass COVID-19 vaccination sites to "socially vulnerable communities," across the state.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the site will be able to administer 1,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine per day.

The site will receive its own allocation of the vaccine direct from the federal government, the National Guard will assist in operating the site.

Scheduling opened for this site February 24 at 8 a.m. and was open for a week only to residents in 10 zip codes with low vaccination rates. Scheduling will open to all eligible Erie County residents Wednesday at 8 a.m. As of Tuesday afternoon, there were 7,000 appointments available at the site.

If you are an eligible Erie County resident you can make an appointment by visiting the NYS website here or by calling 1-833-697-4829.

The site at the Delavan Grider Community Center will be in addition to the mass vaccination site that is being planned for the Buffalo Convention Center.
