BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Erie County Sheriff's Office has suspended all in-person visits at the holding center and the Alden correctional facility due to the rise in COVID-19 infections.
The decision to return to the policy, which was in place in early 2020, was made over the weekend following consultation with the Sheriff’s chief medical officer and due to Erie County’s “Yellow Precautionary Zone” designation.
Attorney visits with inmates will resume in designated, non-contact areas as will be also be available virtually.
Attorney visits will continue in designated, non-contact areas as well as virtually. The Sheriff’s Office has installed equipment and implemented procedures to prevent the virus's spread and protect attorneys and inmates.
