BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Trocaire College announced Tuesday it is using Erie County billboards to thank local health care workers amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

“In living up to our City of Good Neighbors motto, we hope these messages will resonate with the nurses, doctors and others on the frontlines in the battle against the coronavirus as they are driving to and from work,” said Dr. Bassam M. Deeb, president, Trocaire College. “Thank you to our local health care workers, including many of our own graduates, who have heeded the call. Your lives of purpose exemplify the Sisters of Mercy promise, the foundation upon which Trocaire was built.”

The billboards were originally directed toward enrollment events.

Trocaire says nearly 1,600 Trocaire graduates are currently working at Western New York area hospitals.

There are 11 billboards along major highways and roadways in Erie County that will remain in place until April 5.
