Corrections officers donate toys to sick kids

Officers and staff from Lakeview and Gowanda Correctional Facilities are helping make the holidays brighter for sick kids in WNY.

Over the year they've been holding events to raise money to donate toys and gifts to Women and Children's Hospital in Buffalo, as well as make a donation to the Erie County Medical Center.

The New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolant Association donated more than $4,000 in toys and gifts to kids at Women and Children's Hospital in December.  Officers and staff from both Lakeview and Gowanda went to the hospital to hand out the gifts to kids who won't be able to be home this holiday season.

In addition to the toy donation, the Western Region donated $2500 to Women and Children's Hospital to support the care of patients.  Members also donated $2500 to ECMC to support the renovation of the emergency room.
