The Town of Amherst wants to buy the Westwood Country Club property.
7 Eyewitness News has learned the town board has asked Supervisor Barry Weinstein about buying the land and turning it into 170 acres of public green space.
Right now the space is owned by Mensch Capital Partners.
It plans on building a mixed-use development space on the site, including a park, single family homes, lofts and commercial space.
